Sometimes those unexpected conversations with others lead us on a unexpected path.

- Dr. Jill Perry Smith

A "Rerouting Encounter" is an experience or an interaction with someone in your life, known or unknown, that has had an unexpected impact on your decisions or decision-making.

Jane was at her local coffee shop when she bumped into an old college acquaintance. While not being overly familiar with each other, they exchanged small talk and discussed careers post-college. As they were about to part ways, her friend reminisced about how hard it was to find jobs while in college and hoped that at least for the future things become easier.  This sparked Jane curiosity. After reading more, Jane decided to write and produce short self-help books for college students that acted as a guide through the workplace.

John was up late one night working when a colleague came up to him and invited him to grab a late dinner. As they searched for places to eat his colleague complained about the lack of healthy late-night options. This sparked John to invest in opening a late-night healthy food truck that would travel near offices and campuses for the night-owls.
